Carlos Mota def. Justin Gibbons (4-1) – UFC Vegas 32
Roque Martinez def. Jason Rees (5-1) – UFC Vegas 33
Alex Behunin def. Brok Weaver (8-2) – UFC Vegas 34
Alex Behunin puts up a perfect score for the writers and stops the losing skid for them. They now lead the fighters by a score of 12-9.
Here’s how it works: both writer and fighter must pick the winner of the main event, co-main event, and featured main card bout. A correct pick will earn one point. Both must then pick a “lock” — the fighter they are most sure will win their fight — from the entire card. That’s two points. The “dog” comes next, and a correct underdog pick earns three points.
It’s that simple. Five picks: Main, co-main, and featured fight winners, lock, and underdog. To the winner go the spoils. Not actual spoils, but bragging rights anyway.
On this week’s edition, the host of the Top Turtle Podcast on Cageside Press, Dave Tramonte, looks to keep the writers rolling. Looking to stop him with be PFL lightweight Bobby Moffett. Let’s see the picks.
The only thing our two digital combatants are agreeing on this week is the main event. Both men think that Jared Cannonier will likely beat his middleweight foe, Kelvin Gastelum. The rest of the main card they are split on. Tramonte is riding with Clay Guida and Brandon Royval in their respective bouts. Moffett meanwhile likes Mark Madsen and Alexandre Pantoja to get it done.
A big point swing will undoubtedly come in the lone women’s bantamweight tilt of the night. Tramonte has locked Bea Malecki as his surefire winner, while Moffett is going with Josi Nunes as his dog. That’ll cause a five point swing one way or another. To round it all out ‘The Wolfman’ is going with Luis Saldana as his lock. While Tramonte took Ignacio Bahamondes as his dog.
May the best writer/fighter win! Check back here to see the results following the conclusion of UFC Vegas 34.
