Scouting Prospects for the Contender Series Season 5: Part 2

Alex Martinez

Lightweight | 26 | Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada but born in Paraguay | 7-0 (1 NC) | Win streak: 7 | 2 KO/TKOs, 3 Submissions

Martinez is an international talent that has fought for the likes of iKon, Brave CF, and XFFC. He’s fought in Mexico,  Abu Dhabi, Jordan, South Africa, and Canada. Martinez has had a lengthy amateur career going 15-4. He was a two-time IMMAF runner-up and a two-time Canadian AMMA champion. Martinez has an impressive record and has never fought anyone (save one opponent) with a losing record. He does need to be more active but I wont be surprised if he’s done enough to get a spot on the Contender Series later this year.

Victor Altamirano

Flyweight | 30 | Fortworth, Texas, US | 9-1 | Win streak: 3 | 1 KO/TKO, 4 Submissions

It’s been a long road for Altamirano and he is now very close to a UFC call-up. When fighting as an amateur he fought in Legacy FC and the very first LFA show when Legacy and RFA merged. Not getting the notice he should’ve been getting his first five fights, as all those scraps for LFA were on the prelims. His sole loss is to former UFC fighter Jarred Brooks but hasn’t lost since. In his last fight, Altamirano beat Contender Series veteran Nate Smith who has been praised by none other than Dana White. To make it all the better he beat Smith to be crowned the new LFA flyweight champion. Seems like a no-brainer to get Altamirano on the Contender Series.
