“It’s like another person said earlier, all my fights in bare knuckle have been tough, tough fights. That’s good because as a fighter that’s what you want cuz that’s what elevates a good fighter.”
“Then after this fight, cuz I will get my hand raised, and especially in my hometown. The atmosphere, everything, I don’t feel no pressure. It’s just what I love doing and then to get to a title fight right after.”
“I might be fighting [Victor] Ortiz in December after this fight. So might be big. After that, for the title.”

“Not this time cuz my training camp has been in Fort Myers the entire time and he’s still down here in Miami. But I see him here and there, yeah.”
Robert Duran Jr.
“Well, Vinny used to train me when I was still boxing with the gloves. He hasn’t seen [and] he hasn’t been able to train me now. But like he says like kid, you hit like a mule with the gloves on. It’s just great.”

At the BKB 58 media day, Duran Jr. touted the abilities of Serob Minasyan who recently had an entertaining fight with multi-division BKB champion LT Nelson. Roberto Duran Jr. also fought Rolando Dy. With the potential for a fight down the line with Rolando Dy and LT Nelson, when asked for his thoughts on how a Dy vs. Nelson fight could play out if it ever transpired, Duran Jr. said
“I think if that fight did happen, I give it to LT [Nelson] just cuz he’s very strong, durable, he’s been there. Then that’s just what it would be. Then the path lines up, that’s who I would be facing.”
“Depends on who wins between Dy and Scott McHugh whenever they fight. But yeah, that would be an excellent fight. I want the best fights.”
Roberto Duran Jr. has appeared on Bare Knuckle Bowker before, and the subject of wanting to step out of his legendary father’s shadow was touched upon. In terms of how well he has carved out his own combative identity and how much a potential LT ‘Smash’ Nelson booking down the line could cement him as a legendary figure in his own right, Duran Jr. stated
“Pound-for-pound king. I mean he’s a great guy and then to share the ring with him would be a different type of accolade.”
“Even beating him would be on a different level. Those are my goals. That’s what I’m trying to shoot for. So that’s what we’re going for.”
