A fight between strawweight contenders Amanda Ribas and Angela Hill is being targeted for a UFC Fight Night on May 8.

Two of the rising contenders in the flyweight division are being targeted for the UFC’s Fight Night on May 8 as Amanda Ribas and Angela Hill are expected to fight on the date.  MMA Fighting was the first to report the news that verbal agreements were in place, although official contracts had not been sent yet.

Tenth ranked Amanda Ribas is looking to bounce back from her first loss in the UFC after losing via first round knockout to Marina Rodriguez in January.  The loss snapped a four fight win-streak that saw Ribas defeat Mackenzie Dern, Paige VanZant, Emily Whitmere, and Randa Markos to become one of the breakout stars of the strawweight division.

Angela Hill will be looking for her biggest career victory after an active 2020 campaign that saw her go 2-2.  “Overkill” recorded victories over Hannah Cifers and Loma Lookboonmee but suffered razor close losses to perennial contenders Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson.  She kicked off this year with a victory against Ashley Yoder in March.

The event is scheduled to be headlined by a high stakes bantamweight bout between former champion TJ Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen.  As of now, the fight is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
