10 Welterweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Solomon “The Black Dragon” Renfro

25 | 5’9″ | Buffalo, New York | 10-3 | 4 Finishes | 3 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission | Combined Opponents’ Record: 48-25 | Best Win – Michael Irizarry Ortiz (12-4)

Renfro ended 2021 with a split decision loss on the Contender Series. It was a fight he really should’ve won but the judges saw it the other way. He then started off 2022 getting knocked out by Adam Fugitt. That’s a fight he wins more times than not. Renfro has won his last two and is prime for another big opportunity.

It’s evident that Renfro has massively improved over the years. Renfro does have good wrestling and is physically strong. On the feet, Renfro has fast hands with clubbing power — a dangerous duo. He attacks everywhere including leg kicks and attacking the body. He’s a dangerous guy and I truly think he’s one of the best prospects at welterweight.

“I’m coming in as lightweight and welterweight,” Renfro told Cageside Press. “I am everything I say I am! I’m beyond excited to prove that in the UFC.”
