10 Heavyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2022

Oleg Popov

29 | 6’1” | Kalmykia, Russia | 14-1 | 9 finishes | 6 KO/TKOs, 3 Submissions (2 Triangle’s, Armbar) | Combined Opponents’ Record: 144-66 | Best Win – Marcos Brigagão (14-2)

Popov has been grinding on the Russian circuit since 2015 when he debuted. He lost his third fight and has won his next/last twelve fights. His style can be a bit slow but he’s beating experienced journeymen in MMA. At heavyweight beating the journeymen is what gets you noticed.

Popov is a wrestler who has some decent power in his hands. He’s an aggressive guy constantly shooting and what he lacks in size he makes up for with his strength. Not entirely someone who will blow you away on the mat but he has some heavy top control and a submission game. Popov is getting better and better with each fight.
