2016 was quite the year for upsets.

Michael Bisping had previously lost to Luke Rockhold in November of 2014 early in the second round by submission. Following the defeat, Bisping stringed together three straight wins. After Chris Weidman pulled out of his rematch against Rockhold, the UFC gave Bisping the shot against Rockhold on 17 days notice.

Despite Rockhold having lost just two fights at the time and coming off a huge win over Weidman to capture UFC gold, Bisping shocked the world when he knocked out the ex-Strikeforce star in the first round to finally become the UFC middleweight champion.

Bisping would go on to defend the title once, before GSP put an end to his reign.
