Jessie Rosas, brother of UFC star Raul Rosas Jr., will not be competing at UFC Vegas 120 this Saturday after all.
Rosas (8-1), who was to face Miles Johns (15-5, 1NC) at the event, was pulled from the bout due to a cut after the UFC’s physician ruled him ineligible to compete. Brother Raul revealed the reasoning for the bout’s cancellation on social media late Thursday night, roughly 12 hours prior to weigh-ins.
“UFC doctor pulled my brother out of his fight,” wrote Rosas, “due to a glove scratch in his forehead as he believes it’s an infection. We did what we could, got approval from two doctors everything was okay, but the UFC doctor made the call. There’s nothing we can do, my brother was ready. Things happen for a reason. God’s plan. His time will come.”
Luckily for Johns, he’ll be staying on the card. He’ll instead face Gianni Vazquez (14-5-1), who steps in on all of two day’s notice, with the fight shifting to featherweight as a result.
Vazquez is 0-1 in the UFC after losing a fight against Javid Basharat earlier this year. After missing weight for that bout, he was released by the promotion, and picked up a win for Combate Global this May. He was to have competed for LFA later this month.
