There were plenty of options for post-fight bonuses at UFC Vegas 120, a Fight Night card that arrived with a yawn but produced a considerable bang on Saturday.
Plenty of bang for your buck, really, with not a dull fight to be found.
On lesser cards, Carol Foro vs. Gigi Canuto, or Steve Asplund vs. Guilherme Pat, or perhaps Manoel Sousa vs. Richie Miranda might have picked up Fight of the Night honors. Instead, it was the co-main event earning the nod, which saw Carlos Diego Ferreira pick up a decision win over the returning Billy Quarantillo.
Performance of the Night bonuses, meanwhile, went to Quillan Salkilld and Ty Miller. Salkilld capped off the night in his first-ever UFC main event, and out-grappled a strong grappler in Mateusz Gamrot, locking up a rear-naked choke towards the end of the first round. Ahead of the fight, the accepted belief was that Salkilld’s path to victory would be found on the feet; instead he beat Gamrot at his own game.
Miller picked up his own $100,000 performance bonus care of a TKO finish of Billy Ray Goff in a welterweight fight that kicked off the UFC Vegas 120 main card. Towards the end of the second round it felt like Miller couldn’t miss, practically landing at will. Goff was saved by the bell but fell just 15 seconds into the third frame.
The remaining finishers at UFC Vegas 120 picked up $25,000 each for their efforts. Those were Yadier del Valle, Diyar Nurgozhay, José Montanha, Miles Johns, and Juliana Miller.
