Death, taxes, and Dillon Danis pulling out of a fight. Some things in life are just a certainty.
Once again, Danis, who has a history of no-showing promotional obligations and withdrawing from bouts, has withdrawn from a fight. This time, it’s his headlining scrap with Mike Perry, a fight set to launch promotion Duel: Arena this Saturday in Orlando.
MMA Fighting was among those reporting the news, with Perry announcing an opponent switch at a press conference on Thursday. Perry (15-8), fresh off a win over Nate Diaz on Netflix this past May, will now take on Brandon Jenkins (17-11).
Jenkins is a UFC and PFL vet who also picked up a victory on the MVP MMA card, put on by Netflix.
“This f*cking b*tch Dillon Danis didn’t show the f*ck up, he’s not here, he backed the f*ck out, because he’s a p*ssy. So I want to give a shoutout to my new opponent, Brandon Jenkins,” Perry said at Thursday’s press conference. “He’s getting on an airplane right now, he’s flying here to weigh in in the morning like a professional, and fight me on Saturday night.”
The bout will come at a higher weight, with Perry accepting the move up given the short notice nature of the new match-up. Perry remains fired up, exclaiming “I’m still prepared to put on for the city of Orlando and spill some f*cking blood in the arena. Let’s go!”
Danis has no fewer than seven cancelled bouts on his record dating back to 2019 (though at least his fight with Tony Ferguson under the GFL banner falling through cannot be pinned on him). The controversial BJJ star, part-time boxer, and occasional mixed martial artist, last competed in August of 2025 in MMA, submitting Warren Spencer in just 15 seconds. He’s wrestled for RAF twice since.
Shortly after Perry’s announcement, Danis posted a video presumably of himself having a gash stitched up to social media. It was accompanied by the caption “sh*t happens in the fight game. Beyond disappointed.”
