The Rookies

Like Lone’er Kavanagh who was listed previously, some prospects are just starting their pro career. Juscelino Pantoja (2-0), Ruslan Satiev (2-0), Jesse Martinelli (1-0), Dan Moriarty (1-0), Joel Vasquez (2-0), Joshua Thawng (2-0), Lewis McGrillen-Evans (2-0) are all guys that are starting in what could be a promising career.

Juscelino Pantoja outside of MMA has a solid background in boxing. Pantoja is a three-time Brazilian Boxing champion. In MMA he’s 2-0 with two first-round finishes. He trains out of the well-known gym Nova Uniao.

Ruslan Satiev was a really respected amateur going 15-1. He was an IMMAF gold medalist and a Russian MMA champion as an amateur. Satiev is primarily a wrestler but comfortable everywhere.

Jesse Martinelli grew up wrestling and did so throughout high school and college. To this day he’s a wrestling coach at Thoroughbred Wrestling Academy and Ste Gevenieve Middle School.

Dan Moriarty has yet to taste defeat going 6-0 as an amateur and is 1-0 as a pro. He is a former amateur champion as well. Moriarty is a fast-paced well-rounded 125’er that is a solid wrestler first.

Joel Vasquez is already 29 and hasn’t fought a whole lot. He started his amateur career but various reasons and an ACL surgery sidelined him. “Action” Vasquez is definitely an all-action athlete who fights with a lot of speed, power, and precision.

Joshua Thawng has been impressive down South in Texas fighting for Fury FC. Thawng is a dog always on the bone. His muay thai is really good and his pressure is fight changing.

Lewis McGrillen-Evans represents Manchester Top Team training alongside Lerone Murphy and other top fighters. McGrillen is a two-time regional amateur champion who went 8-1 before turning pro. This young man at 21-years-old is the real deal and his name will be heard in the future.
