The Ultimate Fighter 30 flyweight winner Juliana Miller returned to action at UFC Vegas 120, looking to silence her doubters against Ravena Oliveira.
“Killer” Miller was just 4-4 as a pro after winning TUF in her fourth pro fight. Oliveira was 0-3 in the UFC and moving up from strawweight to flyweight after missing weight in her last fight.
Round 1 – Miller came out with some awkward feints and movement to throw off Oliveira and get her to throw some big, looping shots. Miller landed a big straight right hand, and Oliveira returned right back with a cracking straight right. The impact of Oliveira’s shot sounded heavier, and by Miller’s immediate reaction of clinching up against the cage, it seemed more impactful. The two switched up advantage positions in the clinch, with Miller getting the better of the exchange. Miller made her pay with a nice combination off the break, flowing right into a seamless takedown. Oliveira was unable to keep Miller’s offense at bay, eating some massive elbows in the bottom half guard.
Round 2 – Oliveira started the round looking to land some looping shots again, but Miller quickly read it and threw another combination into a great takedown attempt. After adjusting her grip in the clinch, Miller took Oliveira down and landed some elbows before moving to the back. After yelling “just holding” to the commentators, Miller forced herself onto the back with Oliveira fighting to move to her side. Despite only having one hook on the legs, Miller locked in a tight rear naked choke to force the tap.
Miller pushes Oliveira to 0-4 in the UFC in a “fight for our jobs,” as Miller described it post-fight. The TUF 30 winner showed clear improvement in a dominant performance.
