10 Light Heavyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2021

Kaloyan Kolev

29 | 6’1″ | Sofia, Bulgaria | 10-0 | 8 Finishes | 7 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission (RNC) | Combined Opponents’ Record: 34-26-1 | Best Win – Kamen Georgiev (25-10-1)

Along with MMA, Kolev has a background in Judo and is a multi-time medalist at the national level in Bulgaria. Like many fighters, Kolev didn’t fight at all in 2020. He at least had a good 2019 knocking off three opponents. Kolev is a Spartacus Fighting Championship title holder.

Kolev has nice hands with speed and accuracy but a lot of his finishes come after he gets the takedown. I don’t rate his wrestling all to highly but once he does close the distance he’s good from there to get the takedown. Sometimes he hides hits shots behind his strikes or when his opponents come forward and that’s where he finds success. He is good on the mat where his best work is shown. Kolev is a jiu-jitsu guy who puts position first and will throw a lot of ground and pound.
