The biggest name, the most notorious name, the most successful name in UFC history returns to action at UFC 329 this Saturday: Conor McGregor.
“The Notorious” is just that, and his scandals and out-of-cage antics will be much-talked about in the coming days. The UFC’s first-ever simultaneous double champ is also its biggest draw, historically, and big things are expected of his rematch with Max Holloway in Las Vegas on Saturday.
It’s hard to imagine, but a win over Holloway, unlikely as it may seem, could even put McGregor back in the title hunt. Justin Gaethje, newly crowned lightweight champ, is no doubt interested in the winner of the UFC 329 main event. He’ll be on hand at the T-Mobile Arena, and could get another big payday should Conor win, or a rematch with Holloway if the reverse happens.
If that’s what McGregor and the UFC want, however. McGregor has said he fancies a “triple crown,” meaning the welterweight title. The Holloway rematch coming at 170lbs speaks to that, though whether the UFC is willing to gift Conor that opportunity remains to be seen. After Saturday, McGregor will have a single fight left on his contract, and testing the free agent waters with Netflix in the pool seems like the smart move.
Before the pair throw down, plus Paddy Pimblett vs. Benoit St-Denis and other promising bouts, there’s Thursday’s pre-fight press conference. Catch that above starting at 10PM ET, 7PM PT.
