Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 is reaching the midway mark, with Week 5 hitting the Meta Apex in Las Vegas this Tuesday.
On Monday, all ten fighters hit the scales, with one coming in heavy. The was middleweight Christian Echols, a Cage Fury FC alum who was set to take on undefeated Slovak Martin Kozak. Missing the mark by three pounds, Echols will be fighting an uphill battle: the fight moves forward, but he’s been hit with a fine, and will no doubt need to do something extra special to convince Dana White to sign him to the UFC off a weight miss.
Also featured on Week 5 on the Contender Series this year, Kwon Won Il. The former ONE Championship title challenger is actually returning off a loss on DWCS last year, and has in fact lost his last two bouts, dropping his title bid against Fabricio Andrade immediately prior to his first Contender Series showing.
Christian Natividad, brother of former UFC fighter Kevin Natividad, kicks off the card in a flyweight fight with Colton Loud.
