10 Flyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Makoto “Shinryu” Takahashi

22 | 5’4″ | Myanmar/Texas, US | 15-1-1 | 3 Finishes | 3 Submissions | Combined Opponents’ Record: 138-99-17 | Best Win – Seiichiro Ito (12-3-2)

Takahashi is arguably the best prospect across all of Asia. His resume is super strong and so is his skillset. Takahashi made his US debut last November for CFFC and won the title. He’s also the DEEP flyweight champion out of Japan. His last fight alone with Diego Paiva boosted his stock.

Takahashi throws good volume and has quick hands but the technique is a work in progress on the feet. Takahashi is a strong grappler though and will even pull guard at times. He’s really smooth in transitions and taking the back. Not a huge submission threat on paper but will break someone with his constant movement at the least. Takahashi has gone the distance eleven times so his gas tank is top notch.
