10 Flyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Mark Climaco

25 | 5’4″ | Fremont, California, US | 8-1 | 3 Finishes | 2 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission | Combined Opponents’ Record: 25-2 | Best Win – Miguel Sanson (4-0)

Climaco was riding a lot of hype in 2021 but was derailed a little bit. He was clipped by Yuma Horiuchi early in round one so really no shame in that. Since that he took out the undefeated Cody Davis. Climaco has beaten five guys with an undefeated record. He’s close to an LFA title shot.

Climaco is a mixed martial artist all around, but is an excellent wrestler with wrestling easily being where he’s most comfortable. On the feet, Climaco is very good and defensively there is some questions but ultimately there are no real concerns. Where Climaco shines is on the mat and the wrestling to get it there is superb. Climaco has a lot of classic wrestling skills you look for when you see these high-level wrestlers transition to MMA. The impressive thing is that Climaco doesn’t have a wrestling background but is that good naturally.

“I’ve been working hard at this for a while and I’m definitely ready to make that next step,” he told Cageside Press. “At some point in 2023, you will see me in the UFC.”
