Conor McGregor makes his much anticipated return to the octagon at UFC 246. Welcoming him back to Las Vegas will be Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, the winningest fighter in UFC history. The event promises to be one of the biggest of the year, simply because of McGregor’s involvement. That despite being the first PPV, and first UFC card period, of the decade.
Aside from McGregor vs. Cerrone, a number of other familiar names pepper the card. Former women’s bantamweight champ Holly Holm once again shares a card with ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. Holm is set to face off in a rematch with Raquel Pennington.
Former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will also be in action, taking on Brazil’s Carlos Diego Ferreira.
While the main event fighters clocked in with no issues, Alexa Grasso hit a huge snag Friday morning. She came in 5.5lbs over the strawweight limit for her fight with Claudia Gadelha. As a result, the bout has been waved off per the Nevada athletic commission. The NSAC does not allow more than a three-pound differential between fighters.
Sabina Mazo also missed weight initially, coming in at 126.5lbs, then 126.25lbs with the barrier. She was given an extra hour to weigh in.
