Now on his second stint with the UFC, Kai Kamaka III took on prospect Luke Riley in featherweight action as part of the UFC 329 prelims on Saturday.

The card featured the return of Conor McGregor, back in action after five years out, in a rematch with Max Holloway. Kamaka entered off back-to-back wins, including his return fight in the promotion; Riley was a perfect 13-0.

Both fighters exchanged low kicks early in round one, with Kamaka pressing forward. Riley flashed a fast jab to the body then head of Kamaka, darting in and out of range. Multipe times Riley landed a damaging left hook to Kamaka, routinely timing him while he came in. Moments later a picture perfect straight right hand from Riley sat Kamaka down. Kamaka was able to recover momentarily standing back up, but Riley swarmed with combinations against the fence.

Referee Kerry Hatley called a stop to the contest as Kamaka was dazed but still moving; that led to questions about a quick stoppage, but the end result was Riley picking up the TKO finish. There’s little question Kamaka was rocked, and in trouble. As for Riley, it’s the biggest win of his young career.

In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Riley showed support for his teammate Paddy Pimblett while stating he welcomes all opponents at the weight class. Staying undefeated, Riley is one of the brightest prospects in the sport and a future star in Europe.

Official Result: Luke Riley def. Kai Kamaka III by TKO (knees and punches), Round 1, 3:03
