Neil Magny Looking For A Busy 2024

Toronto – Another up-and-comer turned away by veteran UFC welterweight Neil Magny at UFC 297, and he’s not looking to slow down in 2024.

“Oh busy as possible. We were literally walking to this room trying to lay out the fights that are coming up in the welterweight division,” Magny told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.

“The sooner I get in there the better. I feel like I’m in a great space right now as far as balancing personal life, professional life and that kind of thing. Right now I’m in a great place to continue moving forward and making this a year to really make a run.”

At UFC 297 Magny was forced to muster up every bit of heart and grit in order to pull off a massive comeback against Mike Malott who had been dominating the fight up until 15 seconds left in the fight.

“Man it feels great. Not just to go out there and get the job done and get the finish. Open up this year with a statement like that I feel like this is exactly what I needs to do,” he said.

Malott did not fight with his usual high-intensity blitz type of attacks choosing instead to be patient and take his time.

“We definitely expected him to blitz forward a lot more and be a lot more aggressive in his strikes and that kind of thing. Forcing the takedowns looking for submissions. He definitely played it very smart in the early rounds being very patient on the outside. Kind of forced me to find him in the octagon,” Magny said.

“Being down two rounds going to the third coach is like, ‘hey throw caution to the wind you should be able to get in there and get it done. So I just went for it.”
