Bryce Mitchell Dove Into Faith Deeper Following First Loss, Prepared For Tough Fight With Ige

Las Vegas, NV – UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell is back and looking to rebound from his first professional loss when he takes on Dan Ige at UFC Vegas 79 on Saturday night.

“I’m not stressed, brother, I’m blessed. Thank you for having me here, and I’m just so glad for this opportunity. Like my last two fights, you know the one I had to pull out off, the other one I got sick, I’m just so healthy and so happy to be healthy for this opportunity,” Mitchell told reporters on Wednesday.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I just can’t even tell you how happy I am to be here. Nothing has gone bad yet, and I’m just happy.”

Mitchell is coming off his first professional loss last December to Ilia Topuria who finished him in the second round. For Mitchell it strengthened his resolve even more.

“It has (been a challenging time), but my faith in God has got even stronger. I’ve been even deeper in prayer, I’ve been reading my bible more, and I know that I’m better because of all that stuff that happened to me. I’m better than I was last time I was in the octagon, and I think that’s part of God’s plan,” he said.

At UFC Vegas 79 he faces Ige who comes into the fight on a two-fight win streak. Mitchell looks to avoid a losing streak on Saturday night.

“I think he hits hard. I think hits fast. I think he’s durable. I know he’s never been finished, and I know it’s going to be a great fight for the fans,” said Mitchell.

“Yeah ya’ll got to check this sh*t out. It’s going to be awesome.”
