10 Featherweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Mate “The NextGen” Sanikidze

24 | 5’11″ | Republic of Georgia | 9-2 | 4 Finishes | 3 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission |Combined Opponents’ Record: 39-25 | Best Win – Jakub Tichota (5-0)

Sanikidze has been around since 2017 and has done a lot. He’s fought for ACB, M1 Challenge, WLF Wars, and most recently Oktagon out of the Czech Republic. He was only eighteen when he started fighting. As a young man, he was fighting on some big stages. He started off 3-2 in his career and has won six in a row since. Sanikidze is the current Oktagon champion out of the Czech Republic.

More of a striker/kickboxer but lately he’s decided to wrestle a little bit more. I wouldn’t say he’s a great wrestler but he’s come a long way compared to a few years ago. Not the type of guy to chain wrestle. Instead, he blends his striking and takedowns together so well it’s tough to know when he will shoot. He’s the same way with his striking as he mixes in kicks and punches, always throwing something different. Overall he’s hard to read. Sanikidze has a nice flow to him on the feet. He throws some slick combinations while the release and hands are quick from the hip.
