10 Heavyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Caio “Bigfoot” Machado

28 | 6’4″ | Sao Paulo, Brazil/British Columbia, Canada | 7-1-1 | 6 finishes | 4 KO/TKOs, 2 Submissions | Combined Opponents’ Record: 41-38-1 | Best Win – Chris Larsen (7-3)

Machado is most likely on the shortlist for heavyweights on the UFC’s radar. He was going to fight on the Contender Series last season but had visa issues. Machado is the current reigning BFL heavyweight champion. He’s defended his three times. For a heavyweight, Machado fought decent competition. Not UFC-level competition but heavy hitters to really test him.

His chin has been tested and moving his head off the centerline is a problem. What he possesses is a good chin and heavy hands himself. Machado is capable of catching guys coming in as he has light footwork and good timing. He’s also solid in the clinch having a background in Muay Thai. Offensively he’s fine but defensively he needs some work. Still someone that could be a force among other big men.

“It’s not that I want to be in the UFC, I need to be in the UFC. I’m a fighter so I need that next level of competition to get better,” he told Cageside Press. “Let’s me honest, I’ve been running in a different gear than most of the UFC fighters. I have better cardio, I’m a better athlete, I’m a better fighter. It’s my time to shine. I’ve proven and earned my spot over there (UFC). 2023 I will be in the UFC.”
