From Kickboxing to MMA: Which Fighters Could Make the Jump Next?

Asa Ten Pow has been competing in combat sports for a long time. From Sanshou to boxing to muay thai to kickboxing to MMA he’s done it all. Pow has a kickboxing record of 11-2 and has fought for Glory multiple times. He’s beaten good competition but nobody that sticks out to the casual fan. Now Pow is 1-0-1 in MMA.

My thoughts on him in MMA: Pow looked stellar in his debut but his second fight was cut short due to an illegal knee. Showcased so far from Pow is a dynamic skillset. Pow uses a lot of high octane attacks like spinning elbows and a range of kicks. His speed really stands out and attacks come from different angles. Takedown defense has looked good too showing solid balance. We just need to see more of him to get a better read.

César Almeida was a WGP champion, WAKO Brazilian champ, Superkombat champion, and a Brazilian national champion. Almeida in 2013 beat the well-known Alex Pereira by decision. Although he first competed in MMA in 2016 he went back to kickboxing before moving fully over last year.

My thoughts on him in MMA: You’re not going to find all his MMA fights. The one fight you can find he shut the lights out with one punch in under a minute. Similar to what he has done in kickboxing with that one-punch knockout power. Probably a sleeper in the middleweight division once he fights more.
