From Kickboxing to MMA: Which Fighters Could Make the Jump Next?

Anvar Boynazarov was a two-time muay thai world champion in 2010 and 2013. He won three tournaments for EM Legend kickboxing and fought eight times for Glory kickboxing and even a kickboxing fight for Bellator back in 2015. Boynazarov beat a few respected guys in kickboxing including Giga Chikadze. He’s well-known in the kickboxing world. Now, Boynazarov is fully into MMA and undefeated at 3-0.

My thoughts on him in MMA: All three of his MMA fights he’s finished in the first round quickly. He got his debut done with leg kicks and the other two with the knee. Dynamite finishes and at 33-years-old these quick wins are going to lead, maybe, to a big promotion. A successful kickboxing career and maybe the MMA world is next. Perhaps not to the same extent given he’s now 33, but he’s super fun to watch.

Jason Wilnis is a very established kickboxer that’s now in MMA and undefeated at 2-0. He’s a former Showtime champion and a Glory middleweight champion. Wilnis has beaten guys like Alex Pereira twice, Joe Schilling, Simon Marcus, and Israel Adesanya. His kickboxing record is 31-12-1

My thoughts on him in MMA: Wilnis is 31-years-old but at middleweight, he can still fight at a high level at that age. His takedown defense has held up and that’s from defending some deep shots. His leg kicks are heavy as is his hands. In the clinch, he’s good with his elbows and has solid control. Needs more fights but Wilnis has promise.
