Piera Rodriguez Plans to Show Her Stronger, Next Level Self at UFC 273

Commerce, CA — Ahead of her promotional debut at UFC 273 next month, Cageside Press caught up with strawweight Piera Rodriguez, who is set to clash with Invicta FC alum Kay Hansen at the Florida event.

“I cannot wait. This is the best moment of my life, and I am enjoying it, every moment,” Piera (7-0) told us. She’s been putting in the hard work required for her debut, she said, adding that “I cannot wait to put on a show, to show the people what I’ve been working on, and how I’ve been developing so much. I’m excited, man. You’re going to see a new Piera, man. A stronger one, a next level one.”

Rodriguez was in attendance in at LFA 127 on Friday, supporting teammates. It’s her other teammates, like Tabatha Ricci, who have helped make the transition from LFA champ and Contender Series winner to the UFC a smooth one.

“I think that’s been a very good help for me, for my career. Because these girls, my teammates, get to the UFC before me,” noted Rodriguez. “So they kind of lead me. What I’m doing, what I’m doing wrong, what are you going to feel when you get there— they’re so good for me, because they showed me the path. So now I’m excited to do my job and to show what I’ve been working on all this time.”

As for the fight with Hansen, Rodriguez knows she’s up against a motivated opponent. “I think she’s going to try everything, because right now she’s a little bit desperate,” suggested Rodriguez. “Because she needs to win this fight to continue in the UFC. But I think I can handle her excitement and all of what she’s gonna bring, because we’ve been working for this. We know how she fights. We never know how the fighter is going to be in the fight, but we know her style, we know what she has. I can’t wait to stop her.”
