From Kickboxing to MMA: Which Fighters Could Make the Jump Next?

Cédric Doumbé is a two-time Glory welterweight champion, WAKO Pro World K-1 middleweight champ, a WGP champion, and has multiple tournament victories. He has a win over UFC fighter Brad Riddell as well. Even off a seven-fight win streak and defending his Glory title his last fight, MMA is now in his sights.

My thoughts on him in MMA: Doumbe has only one MMA fight but was able to secure a first-round finish. He was patient, picked his shots, mixed up his attacks with his kicks and hands, and his defense was on point. With his kickboxing base and just off that one fight there is a lot to look forward to.

Simon Marcus has a strong resume in kickboxing and muay thai. Muay thai titles in WBC, Lion Fight, and WCK, plus he’s also a two-time Glory middleweight champ. Marcus was also a Glory middleweight contender tournament winner in 2015. Wins in kickboxing are over Israel Adesanya, Joe Schilling, Dustin Jacoby, and Jason Wilnis. His record sits impressively at 49-5-2.

My thoughts on him in MMA: In his one MMA fight even though he could’ve been better he showed a lot still. He has some good top position even moving into mount. He also showed he can scramble pretty well. Aside from that his stand-up was very crisp, powerful, and accurate. The only downfall is he’s 35 but kickboxers do usually hold up longer when coming into the sport.
