10 Flyweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2022

Alessandro “Nono” Costa

25 | 5’3″ | Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil | 10-2 | 8 Finishes | 2 KO/TKOs, 6 Submission (5 Armbar’s, RNC) | Combined Opponents’ Record: 51-26 | Best Win – Jorge Calvo Martin (12-5)

Costa was born in Brazil but lives in Mexico where he’s the current LUX titleholder. He won the LUX title in 2020 and has defended it twice finishing both opponents. Those two opponents were 22-7 combined. I really like Costa as a prospect in this flyweight division and think he could go far.

His speed, explosiveness, and athleticism match what a top-level flyweight should be. The jiu-jitsu/grappling is a real threat and he can compete in the UFC in just that one area. I’m really impressed with his striking as well as it’s becoming more and more dangerous. His hands are very sharp and his shot placement is pretty good. Costa is a well-rounded fighter with tons of potential. He’s also very exciting to watch.
