Record: 17-6 Last Fought: Dan Ige, June 2021

Chan Sung Jung has been in the title hunt for what feels like forever, and he’s running the risk of becoming one of the most notable “also rans” in UFC history.

Zombie, as he prefers to be called, competed for the UFC’s featherweight title against Jose Aldo back in 2013. A valiant effort that saw him fight through a shoulder injury — but the end result was Zombie being finished by “Scarface.”

Since then, TKZ saw a good chunk of his prime eaten up by mandatory military service in his native South Korea. When he returned to action in 2017, he got back in the win column, then suffered a shock defeat against Yair Rodriguez in what many picked as the 2018  Comeback of the Year due to Yair’s last-second Hail Mary up elbow strike ending the fight with literally one second remaining.

Since then The Korean Zombie has gone 3-1, and is coming off a win over Dan Ige. His lone loss in that span came to recent title challenger Brian Ortega, and per MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, Zombie is the front runner to step in for Holloway in March.
