The Brazilian Flyweights
With Costa, Dias, and Matsumoto mentioned above it means Brazil is loaded with talent. No matter what division it is, Brazil always has a bunch of prospects on the rise. Rafael Ramos (10-0), Jair de Castro (10-2), Yan Teixeira (9-1), Wellington Souza (9-1), Carlos Mota (6-0), and Eduardo Henrique da Silva (9-1) are the future of Brazil’s 125ers.
Rafael Ramos had an important fight in his last outing making his LFA debut and beating an undefeated Filipe Esteves. Ramos is a 0 to 100 fighter that’s very pressure-heavy. If he doesn’t break his opponent he will wear on them the duration of the fight.
Jair de Casto is a rangy flyweight standing at six-foot even. He’s fought at both featherweight and bantamweight before but flyweight is his home for now. Castro is a strong jiu-jitsu player to watch out for.
Yan Teixeira is a former Shooto Brasil flyweight champion, a title that he won in 2019. He has a background in jiu-jitsu competing in various grappling competitions.
Wellington Souza is an exciting young prospect out of Brazil. He’s competed in some jiu-jitsu competitions but it’s his stand-up that has impressed. Souza hasn’t fought the best of opposition however.
Carlos Mota is one of the most talked-about flyweights right now due to his performances and fan engagement. Mota is 2-0 inside the LFA cage – one at flyweight and one at a catchweight of 139 lbs. He’s a black belt in BJJ but is as well-rounded as they come.

Eduardo Henrique came off a big win recently beating Tiago Xavier which alone makes him deserving of a spot on this list. His only loss is to UFC fighter Kleydson Rodrigues and he’s won his last four. Although he has a strong ground game, he has a kickboxing background.
