15 Female Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2021

Alesha “Half-Pint” Zappitella (Atomweight)

25 | 4’11” | Ypsilanti, Michigan, US | 8-2 | 2 Finishes | 2 Submissions’ (Arm-triangle, Von Flu Choke) | Combined Opponents’ Record: 231-15 | Best win – Lindsey VanZandt (7-3)

There are many reasons to starts an atomweight division in the UFC, and Zappitella is arguably the main reason. After two consecutive losses in 2019 she ended 2020 on a three-fight win streak. “Half-Pint” has beat Jillian DeCoursey, Amber Brown, Lindsey VanZandt, and Ashley Cummins who are all really good fighters. Last September, Zappitella won the Invicta FC atomweight title. The UFC would be wise to build a division around Alesha.

Zappitella started in wrestling before transitioning later into MMA. She stands at 4″11″ but has made up for that with her constant pressure getting into the clinch and fighting her fight. On the feet, she has some power in her overhands but she may struggle at range if she can’t close the distance. She is a fantastic wrestler who has been very impressive on top with her active movement and transitions.
