Jumping the Line: UFC Fighters Awarded a Title Shot After a Loss

Upcoming: Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero — UFC 248

Not many fans are disappointed about this one, because as they always say, styles make fights. It seems the MMA gods really want Yoel Romero to have a UFC championship wrapped around his waist before he hangs up the gloves.

It seemed it was fate for Romero that Paulo Costa was too injured to fight the rising star Adesanya. The UFC had multiple options for Adesanya but this battle is an amazing match-up for fight fans, as we have a powerhouse against a top young talent who has proved he belongs.

Romero jumping the line and getting this title shot has had no backlash, because we all know that once that Octagon door locks, fight fans are in for something special.

No matter if Romero jumped the line or not, to be the man you have to beat the man and if Adesanya can put away not only Robert Whittaker but capture a finish over Romero, it would solidify a legacy that could be unmatched for years to come.

Upcoming: Aldo vs. Cejudo — UFC 250

For Aldo, his legacy was the lottery ticket that won him this title shot. Sure, we can stew over how unfair it is that this shot didn’t go to Aljamain Sterling or Petr Yan, but we could also look at it another way. A legend who has had a remarkable run with many battles and even some difficult losses, has been rewarded with this opportunity to fight Cejudo. Part of me wants that storybook ending for Aldo — win the title and ride off into the sunset. How perfect would that be, winning the title in his home country and retiring on top?

But if this hallmark ending does not happen and Henry Cejudo picks up a victory, a name like Jose Aldo added to his resume is perfect. Especially when the talks come around for who the greatest of all time really is.

With all the negativity surrounding this fight, it’s hard not to be pumped as it will be a competitive one and even the lead up to fight night could be entertaining.

Jumping to the End!

Well, that’s the list! If there are any that we missed, we would love to hear which. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
