Just over a year ago, it looked as if the UFC’s flyweight division was dust in the wind. The weight class has refused to go quietly, however.

It hasn’t been easy being a UFC flyweight in the wake of Demetrious Johnson‘s departure from the company. When “Mighty Mouse” was around, flyweight fights were a necessity if for no other reason than to produce a string of contenders to face the man considered one of the greatest fighters of all time.

After Henry Cejudo dethroned Johnson, and Demetrious was “traded” to ONE Championship for Ben Askren, things changed. Flyweights were cut left and right. The division was on the verge of extinction.

Then Henry Cejudo went and spiced things up a little. Love him or hate him, the “King of Cringe” secured a stay of execution for the men at 125lbs. After abdicating the throne, Cejudo is out, and Joseph Benavidez vs. Deiveson Figueiredo will throw down later this month to determine the next flyweight champion.

New contenders will be needed, and the division is pretty thin. Here’s our picks for ten flyweight prospects the UFC should sign in 2020.
