‘Platinum’ Mike Perry struck gold Saturday night at UFC Fort Lauderdale, splitting Fight of the Night honors with Alex Oliveira.

UFC Fort Lauderdale (UFC Fight Night 150/UFC on ESPN+ 8) went down Saturday night at the BB&T Arena, and brought with it some exciting action, including a middleweight main event that saw short-notice replacement Jack Hermansson get the better of veteran 185lb contender Jacare Souza. That upset, however, wasn’t the bout that took home Fight of the Night honors.

Instead, that was bestowed up the welterweight clash between Mike Perry and Alex Oliveira. It was the controversial but gritty Perry, in the end, getting his hand raised over Brazil’s ‘Cowboy,’ after an entertaining three rounds in which the Florida native tried for, but could not find, a finish.

Performance of the Night awards, meanwhile, went to Jim Miller and Glover Teixeira. Miller, now 35, continues to make history every time he fights. He holds UFC records for most fights, most lightweight wins, and most lightweight submissions — another of which came last night, as Miller submitted Jason Gonzalez via rear-naked choke.

Teixeira, meanwhile, also pulled off a submission finish, over Ion Cutelaba. That came in the second round, following a hard-fought battle.

All four fighters will take home an extra $50,000 for their efforts at UFC Fort Lauderdale.
