UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero will be competing on the Spanish reality competition show Exatlon which airs next Monday.

“The Soldier of God” has his next challenge lined up, but it will be taking place outside of the Octagon.  Top UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero will be competing on the Spanish reality competition show Exatlon.  Similar to the MTV’s The Challenge, the show features contestants being split into two teams and competing against each other in various physical and mental tests.

The contestants are divided into two teams, one of everyday people and the other featuring several celebrities from across the sports and entertainment world.  Some of the names joining Romero on the celebrity team will be track and field athlete Dayleen Santana, gymnast Audys Nin Reyes, and boxer Karely Lopez.

Current UFC welterweight and teammate of Romero, Jorge Masvidal, competed on the most recent season of the show and made it all the way to week 13 of the competition.  Masvidal detailed his experience on the show to BJPenn.com, saying

“…I don’t know how to explain it, it’s just these courses that you run, you jump. You do everything from swinging off ropes, jumping into pools, jumping out, and it’ll always finish where you gotta throw objects. Like you have a baseball and you gotta drop like five pins and you’ve got five balls and whoever does it the fastest would score that one point for their team. And that’s all I did for 13 weeks, just compete in that.”

While Romero was linked to a possible fight with Paulo Costa early this year, there appears to be nothing currently lined up for the two-time title challenger.  Romero fought twice in 2018 and is coming off a Fight of the Year candidate against Robert Whittaker back in June.

The next season of Exatlon featuring Yoel Romero will begin airing next Monday at 7/6c on Telemundo.
