Indo-Canadian heavyweight Arjan Bhullar returns to take on Adam Wieczorek at UFC on FOX 29.
A heavyweight showdown previously announced by Arjan Bhullar has been made official by the UFC. Announced Friday via it’s Canadian Twitter presence, the promotion has set Bhullar vs. Adam Wieczorek in stone. The bout will take place at UFC on FOX 29 in Arizona this April. The fight will also see Bhullar allowed to wear his turban to the cage, something he was not allowed to do in his UFC debut in Edmonton earlier this year.
Bhullar, born in Canada, has represented the nation at both the Commonwealth and Olympic games. Of Indian descent, he practices the Sikh faith, but the turban was a no-go back in September. The former BFL champion, 7-0 as a pro, won his UFC debut at UFC 215 with a unanimous decision over Luis Henrique. He’ll put that undefeated record on the line against Poland’s Wieczorek.
Having won his own promotional debut at UFC Sydney last November, Adam Wieczorek (9-1) will be looking to make it nine in a row with a win over Arjan Bhullar. Wieczorek defeated Anthony Hamilton in a unanimous decision in Sydney, in a bout that had to be moved from UFC Gdansk after threats from Polish soccer hooligans. Next up, a trip to Arizona, where soccer fans will likely be in scare supply.
UFC on FOX 29 takes place April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ. The main event features a showdown between exciting lightweights Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier.
