Yesterday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. attempted to stir the pot for the upcoming Mayweather-McGregor boxing match, offering to meet UFC champion Conor McGregor in 8oz gloves, rather than the 10oz gloves the pair had agreed on. It was likely all for show, and not surprisingly, the offer was vetoed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who noted that the size of the gloves are based on the agreed weight class.

Still, McGregor had already taken note of the offer, and responded today in classic McGregor fashion on social media, posting a photo of him sparring with two-division boxing champ Pauli Malignaggi along with his reaction to Mayweather’s suggestion of 8oz gloves.

“Another handy 12 rounds today. We are prepared to destroy Floyd. Pick whatever size gloves you want as well little man. I fight with 4oz. I don’t give a f*** about the size of the glove. I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that. Brittle hands.”

Given the NSAC put the kibosh on any glove change, it’s a good thing he doesn’t care. That said, McGregor’s confidence is always sky high, so it’s no surprise the offer did nothing for him.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor takes place under the Showtime banner on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
