The UFC has announced a change to Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 broadcast just hours out from the event.
On multiple social media channels on Sunday afternoon, the promotion revealed a change in the broadcast time, with the Paramount+ broadcast now starting at 8PM.
While 8PM has always been the start time for the card, a one-hour pre-show broadcast had also been scheduled, initially for 7PM ET.
It appears there’s a chance that with the broadcast now starting at 8PM ET, 5PM PT, should the full hour-long preshow go ahead, fights may not get underway until 9PM ET.
Weather has remained a concern in the Washington area all week. Thunderstorms rolled through much of the east coast on Sunday, and heavy rain and thunderstorms were forecast for D.C.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Washington, D.C. (as well as Baltimore, MD) as of just past 4PM Sunday afternoon. That warning currently lasts until 11PM ET.
Inclement weather has been a key concern for the UFC throughout the rare outdoor card. A massive, metal structure known as “the claw” is suspended over the octagon, offering some coverage against the elements, though lightning strikes are likely to force a halt to the show, at least temporarily.
The promotion has had a meteorologist on site throughout fight week, who over the past several days has been providing hourly updates, per UFC executive producer Craig Bosari.
