Conor McGregor is back in the news, and for once it’s about fighting.

McGregor will headline UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, facing off against Max Holloway in a rematch dating back to their first encounter in 2013, which McGregor won.

With a couple of fights rumored to remain on the Irish star’s contract, a possible trilogy bout with Nate Diaz has been much talked about by fight fans. Diaz, however, parted ways with the UFC a couple of years back, taking a big payday to fight Jake Paul in boxing.

At the MVP MMA: Rousey vs. Carano show in Los Angeles on Saturday, streaming on Netflix, Diaz found himself in the co-main event opposite Mike Perry, another UFC alum. And needless to say things did not go Nate’s way.

Diaz looked slow, tired, and was battered, beaten, and bloodied by Perry, the BKFC “King of Violence” before the Stockton native’s corner threw in the towel. Even Diaz didn’t seem too out of sorts over the turn of events, admitting that he wasn’t likely going to be able to do much more in the fight.

Now, Conor McGregor has given his take on Diaz’s performance. Taking to social media, McGregor wroteI see why Nate Diaz didn’t take the fight lol. Anyway here’s to when I get my hands on you, you lanky streak of piss.”

Diaz and McGregor first faced off at UFC 196 in March 2016, with Nate replacing Rafael dos Anjos, who pulled out of a lightweight title fight due to injury. The bout was contested at 170lbs, with Diaz submitting McGregor and handing him his first loss in the UFC.

A rematch, which McGregor insisted take place at the same weight, unfolded at UFC 202 that August, with the Irish star winning a decision to even the pair’s series. A trilogy bout has been yearned for ever since, but has never come close to materializing.
