U.S. President Donald Trump let Elon Musk hawk Teslas at the White House, and now, it seems he has his heart set on hosting a UFC event there.

This week, the 47th President of the United States broke news of the plan, to coincide with the nation’s 250th birthday next year. “So every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of America 250. And I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight,” the president stated as part of a speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on Thursday (h/t Newsweek).

Trump would suggest that the event would have a full house of fans, in the 20,000 to 25,000 range, though where they would be seated remains a big question mark, especially as UFC CEO and President Dana White has been loathe to host events outdoors.

In any case, MMA’s biggest star, the embattled Conor McGregor, is apparently on board. “Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House,” McGregor wrote on social media. “I would be honoured! Count me in!”

The former featherweight and lightweight champion has not competed since breaking his leg in the rubber match of his trilogy with Dustin Poirier in 2022.

McGregor went one step further later, suggesting the White House was the only place he and The Ultimate Fighter 31 rival coach Michael Chandler could finally throw down. “The only place where disputes truly get settled. The White House,” McGregor wrote alongside an AI generated image of himself and Chandler standing on the White House lawn, with Trump seen in the background.

Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler had a date booked at UFC 303 last year, only for the Irish star to withdraw due to a broken toe.
