PFL welterweight Kendly St. Louis scored a massive victory in his first fight back in the promotion submitting Mukhamed Berkhamov in the third round at the PFL World Tournament Semis in Nashville on Thursday.
St. Louis (11-4) became the first man to ever submit Berkhamov in a professional MMA bout. That capped off what ended up being a very successful week for the 34-year-old.
“Feels good. Feels great. We trained pretty hard for this camp. Had over I’d say about 6 weeks,” St. Louis told Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“We know he’s pretty long. He likes to play on the outside so we kind of had a game plan, but at the end of the day I fought my fight. Knew the finish was going to come, just don’t force it, your finish is going to come.
It wasn’t a tournament bout of course, but St. Louis didn’t mind speaking on what he wanted next. One fight in particular caught his attention.
“I already said it. The two guys that’s fighting right now (Sarek Shields vs. Joseph Luciano. Shields won the fight). Sarek Shields, he’s a Viking. I’m a highlander. Let’s fight,” he said.
