The UFC will return to mainland China this August, with UFC Shanghai announced for August 23 by promotion officials.

The Fight Night event was revealed on social media on Thursday, in conjunction with the launch of Road to UFC Season 4. The grand prix-style tournament takes place at the UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, offering a gateway to the promotion for talents throughout Asia.

No fights have been announced thus far for this year’s UFC Shanghai card, which will take place at the Shanghai Indoor Stadium. The promotion last visited the city in 2017, when a Fight Night card headlined by Michael Bisping and Kelvin Gastelum drew just north of 15,000 fans.

The August 23, 2025 date will be the UFC’s second trip to Shanghai; they’ve also hosted an events in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Macau.

Along with UFC 319 in Chicago, the Shanghai card is one of two road shows for the promotion in the month of August. They currently have a pair of dates booked that month at the Apex in Las Vegas, with fans becoming critical on the company’s overreliance on the private venue, which lacks any real capacity for fans to attend outside of a small handful.

However, the UFC will be on the road for seven straight weeks starting with UFC 316 on June 7.
