Jamie Driver is still rehabbing an injury en route to a yet-unbooked bout to become a multi-division BKB champ, but is on the ground and excited for BKB 58 in Miami. The action kicks off tonight, and the champ is attending the card in a spectator capacity. When asked, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, if she has a certain vested interest in a particular fight on the card, Driver said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker].
“You are very much correct about that assessment. I am very much looking forward to the Aspen Ladd vs. Bianca Daimoni fight. That’s the one I have my eyes on.”
When asked if Ladd vs. Daimoni strikes her as a future title eliminator for the Poice Gazette diamond belt that she already holds, Driver stated that
“So I fought Helen Peralta for the title eliminator fight to fight Khortni Kamyron. So my next fight will be against Khortni Kamyron. But I’m hoping that this will be the title eliminator for after the fact. After I become crowned super lightweight champion.”
Upon the uttered inquiry of when the fans can expect to see that BKB mega fight, Driver explained
“I’m still healing the injury with my arm. But I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So, if it’s not by the end of this year, it’ll definitely be early next year.”
With the follow up regarding how her rehabilitation efforts have been going, Driver said
“It’s been good, it’s been long. It’s been tedious. But it’s opened my eyes up to a different perspective on how I need to recover. What I need to be doing in and out of camp more. But, it’s really it’s been a blessing and I’m just looking forward to getting back. So, it’s all going to be great [laughs].”
The ever-growing nature of elite women’s fighters entering BKB would seemingly excite a titleholder who helms over the landscape and to that notion, Driver stated
“Absolutely. I mean coming from MMA and fighting girls there at 145, it was always really hard to find other women to fight. So now, coming over to BKB, just keep signing more women. So it just gives me more opportunities to fight. Just new toys to play with and break [laughs].”
‘The Red Queen’ has seemingly had Aspen Ladd on her radar since BKB signed her, and when asked if Ladd strikes her as a potential adversary in the Mighty Tigon someday, considering her huge pedigree across multiple combat sports, Driver noted
“She’s a contender from the UFC, the PFL, BKFC, you know what I mean? She’s got a very, very well-rounded background. She comes from MMA, so she’s got just like me, a really good style of grappling, the mix of the striking and grappling. So, I definitely see her rising to the top. I look forward to, if she makes it, I look forward to meeting her there and beating her ass [laughs].”
Bianca Daimoni fought Jamie Driver previously for BKB gold, with the latter beating the former. Driver was audibly cheering for Daimoni at the BKB 58 weigh-ins though, and when asked about the mutual respect that the two seem to have, Driver said
“Absolutely. Bianca and I already danced for six rounds together. So, she has all my respect in the world. I’m excited to see Bianca back and to see what she’s worked on. It’s a great welcome fight for Aspen. So, I’m definitely, I mean, just aside from wanting to fight Aspen, it’s just a great fight for the women’s division entirely.”
When asked for a fight overview on Aspen Ladd versus Bianca Daimoni, Driver stated
“You know, I really just kind of see it most likely going all five rounds. But both girls just, they both are heavy hitters. They have the skill and the technique. So, if Aspen can get her in the clinch and beat her up, but the thing is Bianca’s a black belt, I believe, in Muay Thai. So, she’s got a great inside game. So, it’s really either way. I think it’s very 50-50, a well- matched even fight. But I definitely see it going most likely all five rounds.”
BKB’s CEO David Tetreault mentioned a desire to do cross promotions with Zuffa Boxing, Matchroom, or even Golden Boy. When asked if she was interested in future opportunities under Queensberry Rules, Driver said
“You know, right now I’m definitely; most of my focus is with bare knuckle. But if the opportunity arose for me to transition into gloved boxing or even to bring some of the girls from boxing over to here to bare knuckle, then I’m always game. I’m always down to fight anybody, anytime, any discipline.”
The BKB CEO also made a brief cameo in the interview, as David Tetreault declared,
“Jamie Driver is awesome. When she comes back into the ring, the Trigon, she’s going to take over the world.”
Offering up parting thoughts while appearing on BKB at BKB 58, Driver added
