UFC middleweight and Canadian fighter Marc-Andre Barriault put everything on the line against Bruno Silva at UFC 315 on Saturday night.
Barriault (16-9) came into the fight on a three-bout losing skid. The fighter from Quebec hoped to score a win over Silva and potentially save his roster spot in a tough middleweight division.
Silva (23-12) wasn’t in a better position than Barriault. One of the few men to give Alex Pereira fits Silva hasn’t been able to put together much momentum as of late. He came into UFC 315 on a 4-fight losing skid dropping fights to Brendan Allen, Shara Magomedov, Chris Weidman and Ismail Naurdiev. No push overs for sure, but still in a bad spot for Silva.
Two men, one win up for grabs, and likely someone packing their bags.
Round 1 Silva came out early with the jabs landing on Barriault who remained very patient to start the fight. Silva wasn’t as patient as he forced the action getting close trying to land elbows.
Silva caught a kick and used a right hand to put Barriault to the ground, but he rushed, and got put on the fence instead. Barriault looked for elbows and found them landing plenty unanswered shots before Silva went so sleep.
Massive victory for Canada’s own!
