A representative for Nate Diaz, who is now the subject of an arrest warrant following a brawl in New Orleans over the weekend, says the fighter acted entirely in self-defense.

Diaz was caught on camera choking celebrity lookalike Rodney Petersen unconscious in an altercation following Misfits Boxing 6, where the former UFC fighter had to be separated from ex-football player, social media figure, and celebrity boxer Chase Demoor.

Peterson, who bears a striking resemblance to Youtuber Logan Paul, was left with an apparent head wound in the incident. The injury appeared to have been sustained when his skull hit the pavement after being choked out by Diaz.

On Tuesday, a representative for Diaz told Cageside Press and other media outlets that his attorney had been in touch with New Orleans authorities.

“Nate’s attorney Walter Becker can confirm that Nate has received word of the arrest warrant and Becker has been in contact with court authorities in New Orleans.

Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense.

No further comment will be made at this time.”

Among the various angles of the incident caught on video is at least one that appears to show Petersen approaching Diaz in the midst of the melee. Regardless, he later posted video footage of the wound he sustained in the altercation, questioning what he had done to deserve such treatment.

Diaz is a well-known controversy magnet who has been involved in multiple altercations over the years, including a scuffle with Jake Paul’s crew at the Paul vs. Silva boxing match last year, and another with combat sports gadfly Dillon Danis outside Madison Square Garden.
