UFC Vegas 69: Marcin Prachnio Chose To Keep Knight As Opponent After Initial Withdrawal

Las Vegas, NV – UFC light heavyweight Marcin Prachnio waited patiently for his bout with William Knight and it finally arrives at UFC Vegas 69 on Saturday night at the UFC APEX.

“Yeah I was supposed to be here a few months back. Something happen, not to me, to my opponent to William Knight,” Prachnio told Cageside Press among other media on Wednesday.

Prachnio (15-6) said he found out about Knight withdrawing from their original booking a little over a week before the fight was supposed to happen.

“One day before the flight to US I was like so disappointed. We rescheduled the fight. (We’re) here now, let’s go,” he said.

Prachnio said the UFC offered up some replacement opponents, but the style was different than what he trained for against Knight that it didn’t make sense to him to take short-notice fighter.

“It was like a really different fighter so was like no sense to make this fight that time,” said Prachnio.

Instead the bout was rescheduled for UFC Vegas 69 on Feb. 18 at the UFC APEX.

“We prepared for the guy (Knight) already like three-and-a-half months so it was good to keep the same guy. Probably for him the same because then you need to prepare for somebody else completely different,” he said.

Once Prachnio got to the states he took a trip to Los Angeles, CA where he took a photo with Muhammad Ali’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“One of the best boxers in history. He’s a legend you know. I always look for his fights. He was the greatest.”
