Jhonata Diniz
31 | 6’3″ | Sao Jose dos Pinhais, Parana, Brazil | 3-0 | 3 Finishes | 3 KO/TKO’s | Combined opponent’s record- 23-23 | Best win- José Rodrigo Guelke (22-23)
If Diniz isn’t familiar to you in the MMA world he should ring a bell if you’re familiar with kickboxing. His kickboxing record is 13-6 and he went 3-3 for Glory Kickboxing. After a decade of competing in Kickboxing Diniz made the transition to MMA. He hasn’t even been fighting in MMA for a year but has three wins and three finishes.
Heavyweight is thin so you’ve got to take all the talent you can get. Saying that, Diniz might actually pan out to be something good. He has a ton of combat experience and is still relatively young for the sport. He’s got huge knockout power, mixes it up, is patient, and picks his shots well. Someone you could see on the Contender Series next season.
“I have a great history in kickboxing with 34 fights (only 7 losses) and three world titles. I fought in the biggest kickboxing events in the world and now we are focused on MMA,” Diniz told Cageside Press recently. “I am coming from 11 consecutive victories in combat sports. I’m very focused on the UFC, the UFC is the biggest MMA stage in the world and all the biggest athletes in the world are there and I know that’s where I belong. I know about my knockout power and my potential to be among the biggest names in the world and manage to bring the heavyweight belt to BRAZIL.”
“I know there’s a long way to go but I believe we’re on the right way and I’m sure I have all the qualities a true heavyweight needs to be a champion! I was the very first Brazilian guy to fight in GLORY. I did work with them for a long long time! I really think than my experience will support me to come to highest places in UFC!”
