CFFC 112: Aaron La Farge Looking To Introduce Himself To The Larger MMA Fanbase

You might not know his name now, but after Friday, Aaron La Farge is looking to have his name in MMA fan’s mouths everywhere.

Almost a year ago, La Farge (5-2) suffered a loss that made him retire. He was done with the sport of MMA at the age of 30. After a few months of reflection and really dealing with his emotions, he decided to give the sport that he had given so much to another shot.

In his last outing, six months after his devasting loss, he picked up the SMASH Global flyweight belt by defeating highly touted Raz Bring. It was a big win for La Farge because the win made him believe he is one of the best 125ers outside of a major promotion.

The now 31-year-old California product returns to action this Friday in the co-main event of CFFC 112 against Canada’s James Clark.

Last week La Farge wrote on Twitter that he was disappointed that he hasn’t gotten enough coverage on prospect lists.

With his fight being on UFC Fight Pass, he knows a win over Clark will put him on everyone’s radar.

“It’s exciting. It’s everything you work for, and it’s all the hard work. I’m ready to introduce myself to the world,” La Farge told Cageside Press in an exclusive interview. “A lot of people are gonna see this fight…This is one of the biggest flyweights fights outside of the UFC so I’m excited about this opportunity. I really think I could show my skills to everybody and really show what I’m about.”

La Farge likes the match-up and believes all Clark has is wrestling.

“I personally like it. I think it’s stylistically a really good match-up for us. Obviously, I’ve talked to all my people, my team, and my coaches- we really liked this match-up…” La Farge said. “He’s just really one-dimensional. He’s kind of just a strong wrestler. But, I mean, it’s something I’ve seen before. He literally has very little striking, but I’m not underestimating him one bit. But his striking is not even on the level of [my last opponent].”

A win over Clark could set La Farge up for a CFFC title shot which would do wonders for his career, and that is what the Californian is planning for.

From retirement to a potential CFFC title shot, it’s all part of the journey.

“I just feel like James is just a stepping stone to where I’m going. This is exactly where I want to be in my journey, and I’m excited about it.”
