There are misses, and then there are misses — and Willian Souza missed weight by a country mile ahead of his Dana White’s Contender Series fight with Farid Basharat.

More accurately, Brazil’s Souza missed the mark for his bantamweight fight by an entire weight class, weighing in 10 pounds over the non-title bantamweight limit. He hit the scales at 146 pounds, while opponent Basharat hit the mark at 136.

With a vast weight discrepancy between the two, the Nevada Athletic Commission had no choice but to scrap the fight.

Souza was entering the fight on the strength of an 11-fight win streak, and has claimed Jungle Fight titles at both bantamweight and featherweight.

Opponent Farid Basharat saw his brother, Javid, win a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series last season, and was looking to follow in his brother’s footsteps. That will have to wait; for the time being, Basharat is without a fight. Potentially, he could be scheduled later in the season if a suitable opponent is found.

Dana White’s Contender Series 47 now moves forward with four bouts. The season kicks off Tuesday night, full weigh-in results are below.

Ozzy Diaz (186) vs. Joe Pyfer (185)
Farid Basharat (136) vs. Willian Souza (146)*
Anton Turkalj (205) vs. Acacio dos Santos (201)
Dennis Buzukja (146) vs. Kaleio Romero (146)
Alessandro Costa (126) vs. Andres Luna Martinetti (126)
