Bellator 281: Logan Storley Feels MVP Has Proven Himself as “Top Guy”

Logan Storley is stepping into a huge opportunity at Bellator 281 on Friday, as he replaces welterweight champ Yaroslav Amosov in what is now an interim title fight against Michael “Venom” Page.

Storley (13-1) never considered saying no to the title fight, despite having to go right back into camp after his last match-up.

“No, it was exciting. It’s a great opportunity to become world champ,” Storley told media outlets including Cageside Press during this week’s Bellator 281 media day. “Obviously bad circumstances for Amosov right now, but I can’t control that, MVP can’t control that. It is what it is, and we have to show up and fight.”

Those “bad circumstances” have seen Amosov step away from fighting and onto the battlefield. He’s currently helping in the effort to defend Ukraine from Russian forces, which launched an attack on the country in late February.

As for MVP, many have questioned his level of opposition and wrestling acumen over the years. Storley acknowledged that both Douglas Lima and Paul Daley were able to get takedowns against the British kickboxer — but as for as for the caliber of opponents Page has faced, there’s another side to that story.

“Obviously, I don’t think a lot of guys are lining up for the fight either,” noted Storley. “I think MVP has proven himself though as a top guy. So I don’t have anything disrespectful to say about him in those terms.”

Storley also believes that his wrestling is a world apart from other fighters Michael Page has faced.

“You have to respect him. He’s a great fighter with a great record. But nobody sets up their takedowns like me and they aren’t as powerful on top as me. And most importantly, they aren’t me.”
